Message from the President

Yasumitsu Ikeda
President, CEO and COO
The business environment surrounding us is undergoing significant changes due to trends such as Green Transition and Digital Transformation. Amid this rapid change, SMK Group remains committed to its founding spirit, "Good Parts Create Good Final Products." By prioritizing technology and quality, we continue to provide products and services that address the issues of our customers and society. At the same time, we are driving ESG & sustainability management, focusing on environmentally and socially responsible business practices, and striving to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
- Initiatives for the Environmental Dimension
- With a clear vision for carbon neutrality by 2045, we have set medium- and long-term targets to reduce CO2 emissions, focusing on Scope 1 and 2. We have completed the installation of solar power generation systems at major production sites by March 2024 and are currently considering additional measures. Toward Scope 3 emissions reduction, we are working together with our suppliers to advance initiatives. Additionally, we are also focusing on waste reduction and water efficiency to optimize resource use.
- Initiatives for the Social Dimension
- In strengthening human capital, our major goals are to create challenging and rewarding workplaces and develop self-directed employees. We regard reforms in HR systems, revision of performance evaluation systems, active recruitment and development of talent, reskilling plans, and consideration of job-based employment as key priorities. From the perspective of diversity, equity & inclusion, we are focusing on developing women employees in management positions. We also plan to implement measures to improve the scores of the employee engagement survey, which we first conducted in FY2024.
- Initiatives for the Governance Dimension
- In line with the SMK Philosophy and Action Guidelines, we recognize the enhancement and strengthening of corporate governance as one of our most important management priorities, aiming to achieve continuous and stable improvement in corporate value and to be a company trusted by all stakeholders.
For example, as we consider the current lack of women directors to be a significant issue, we are actively working to develop future executive candidates, including career development programs for women.
SMK Group, as a responsible corporate citizen, recognizes the importance of each employee’s role in contributing to a globally sustainable society. We strive to balance economic development with environmental conservation through our advanced technologies.
